Our family heritage
The Burgess Farmhouse has been owned by the Burgess family for over 50 years. It comprises of approximately 7 acres of land on the top of Zomba Plateau with views looking out towards Mount Mulanje and Lake Chilwa. The Zomba Plateau is a Forest Reserve and has two main dams. Mulunguzi Dam is a 5-minute walk from the House.
The Burgess family was institutional in starting up a Tourism Venture on Zomba Plateau in the early 1970s with horse riding and dressage training by the late Brian & Jayn Burgess and their daughter Zoe. The House and the Cottages were always buzzing with riders or musicians and the horses were kept between the main property and the top stables.
